Everyone feels lonely from time to time.  Loneliness is part of life and something that we cannot avoid.  Sometimes, you can be in a room full of people and still feel like you fit in.

Social interaction is a lot more than just being surrounded by a lot of people. In fact, it has a lot to do with the bonding that you have with other people that may come into your path. 

It’s important to ask yourself why you get lonely?  Many men and women make the mistake of having children in hopes to someday benefit from them being around for them all the time.  However, the truth is that once your child reaches the age of 18, they often go off to college or at least plan on living part from you. 

The reality of being alone will eventually hit you.  It’s important to have people in your life that love and accept you for who you are.  It’s important to choose your friends and family wisely. 

It’s a terrible situation when you have family and friends around you that talk about you behind your back negativity.  Perhaps you can relate to this type of conversation happening behind your back.

Christians are called to not be a gossip. The family of Jesus Christ is a lot different than your own family.  When the apostles branched out to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, there is a good chance that they never got to see one another again.  They made great friends while walking with Jesus and then got separated as they were called to spread the gospel. 

The good news is that you can keep in contact with your friends and family via the internet.  This is one of the best ways to have communication in modern times. In this way, you can maintain good friendships no matter where you are at in life. 

It’s important to ask God to put people in your life to not make you feel lonely. Sometimes, we can get into a rut of working and coming home to family. In this way, you don’t make many close friends.  Instead, your job becomes your friend.  It is hard to imagine yourself ever losing sight of your success. 

However, there will come a point in your life where you will have to decide on what you are going to do in order to bring friendships into your life. 

I know that there are a lot of lonely people in the world today. Sometimes, we don’t realize how many people around you feel like you do.

As a prophetic minister, I speak to a lot of people on the phone about loneliness.  Loneliness is a time in which most people feel like nobody cares about them. This is often a part of life because everyone wants to know that someone has been thinking about them. 

What If You Had to Let Some Friends Go When You Got Saved?

Hanging around non-Christians is not fun when you are a saved believer.  In fact, you will have nothing in common with the people that you once were friends with. It’s important to start bonding with other Christians that have given themselves to Jesus.  When you do this, you open doors for true friendships. 

Sometimes, you will not know exactly why Jesus is leading you to someone that will become your friend. I know that friendships are not born out of thin air.  Sometimes, you must love the one person that God puts in your life. Sometimes, we are not supposed to have many friends or people in our lives that love us. 

In fact, some of the best friendships that I have had in my life often involved loving one person. When you have someone that loves you back in the same way, it’s a true blessing.  Its important to get into a hobby that you can find friends doing it with.

Your local church should have activities and programs set up for Christians so that they can interact with one another outside of church.  It’s hard to have a relationship with someone that you may not fully want to be together with. Therefore, choosing someone to hang out with is such a big deal.

It’s okay to tell someone what is on your mind when you meet them.  When you do this, the doors open for you and you begin to bond with people that you can get to know well. 

When Do You Get Less Lonely?

You get less lonely when you occupy your time with activities. If you keep your mind doing something a lot, time goes by fast and you begin to enjoy life.  It might not be a bad idea to make friends with other lonely people. Often, the two of you both need to be with one another.

You also get less lonely when you spend time with people in person. Today, the internet and social media has given us a crutch. The problem with social media friendships are that they are often full of superficial friendliness. 

Another words, most people online don’t want you to get to know the real them.  In fact, people often put on a fake fasade. Many relationships on the internet are also full of people trying to see what they can get out of you.  This may be a situation that you may want to try avoiding. 

It is often hard to tell someone how you feel or what is on your mind.  It’s important to always look at your life and ask yourself what you want to do with yourself. As time moves on, life will show you that there is always something new taking place. 

How to Make Friends

In order to make friends, its important to be friendly.  Nobody likes a grumpy person.  In order to find the right friends, join a hobby that you enjoy.  If you like art, join an art class in which you can do art and make friends that also enjoy art. It’s never easy to put yourself in a situation that is new. 

Think of yourself as a child. How do kids make friends with one another?  They put themselves in a situation where they are forced to socialize with other people. 

When you start to socialize with the people around you, friendships are built and made.  Sometimes, you can have a friendship with someone that you had no intention of being friends with. 

Try to build a friendship that is balanced.  Sometimes, if you are hurting and in pain, you may dump your problems on someone in church and they may think that they are now supposed to help you every time that they see you. This kind of friendship turns into the other person thinking that they are supposed to see you as a person with problems that they are called to assist. 

You should create friendships that are balanced.  If you love playing card games, join a group in which people play cards a lot and have fun.  You will find that good friendships are often built with joy. 

What If I am Shy?

Being around people will often cause you to be less shy. Often our shyness is a result of issues or problems that we have had before in the past.  Its important for us to look at our life and see that we can open to someone and most people will accept you.

You must always start off by saying hello to people when you walk into a room. In this way, people see you as being a friendly man or woman. 

Also, ask the Lord to bring people into your life that can approach you to say hello.  You may be shocked to find out that the Lord will put people in your path that will introduce themselves to you. In this way, you won’t have to worry about approaching people first.

Remember that you have a friend in Jesus that understands you completely. It is always a blessing to have Jesus in your life because you don’t feel completely alone. When you know that there is a loving God standing over you each day, it lets you know that you can trust and rely on him always.
