What Are Your Relationship Goals?

What Are Your Relationship Goals?

Are you being a point in your relationship in which you must understand what your relationship goals are for the future?  Are you tired of saying, “Are we dating? Are we a couple?  Are we lovers?  Are we friends with benefits? What are we exactly?”

Find tuning your relationship goals will take your love affair to the next level.  After all, today’s world is moving fast.  Everyone seems to be moving towards their own goals and often faster than you could imagine.  You may call up a friend and find out that they just got a new job or perhaps moving to another state.  Yes, life changes quick and so do relationships.

How to Define Your Relationship Goals:

  • Ask your lover if they can see building a future with you.
  • Ask them if they fulfill your needs.
  • Find out if they are ready to go to the next level.
  • Try to discover if you can make specific goals for getting married or moving in together.
  • Try to figure out where they see the two of you headed.

Defining your relationship goals takes time and it can be scary.  You run the risk of your lover feeling like you are trying to push things ahead faster.  They may feel like they don’t want to change things now because everything has been going so well.

However, if its not enough for you, its time for you to step up to the plate and say that you are sorry. This kind of mentality will help you to see that your relationship can grow after having a simple talk.

Goals for relationship are different for every person.  What your needs are, may not be what someone else needs.  Therefore, its best to focus on what works out best for you and don’t worry about what someone else is thinking.

You also may find that you have different goals in a relationship than your partner does. Perhaps you have known one another for awhile and they feel like you don’t need to talk more than once a week.  Many lovers today only communicate once or twice a week.  However, if this is not enough for you, its time to explain what you need in the relationship.

After around two months of dating, its good to set goals and have deep discussions like this.  After all, you don’t want to spend your time with someone for the next six months and discover they were not really into you as you were them.  There is nothing worse than loving someone that you love more and its not equal.

Balance is key to any successful relationship

Examples of Relationship Goals

  • We will move in together in a year from now.
  • You will spend Thanksgiving together for the first time.
  • You will take your lover home to meet your parents and family.
  • You will have your family get to know your lover.
  • You will give one another a promise ring for the future.
  • You discuss whether marriage is an option for the two of you.
  • You can discuss if you see children in your relationship for the future.
  • The both of you want to feel like you can trust one another.

Setting Ideal Relationship Goals

Don’t set up any unrealistic relationship goals.  If you know that your lover is not thinking about marriage and you knew it from the beginning, it may be to hard to discuss this with them because they may not have answer for you. Instead, wait for them to bring up the topic.  If you do it first, they will think that you didn’t listen to a word that they said from the beginning.

Don’t put pressure on the person that you are having a connection with.  Let them see that you are willing to give them space to think about what will work for them.

Try to go along with what is already happening with the two of you but try to ask questions that you know won’t come across as being offensive or negative.  It’s always best to say what you think the other person may be comfortable with discussing.

It’s important to ask a lot of questions to the person that you want to learn more about. Sometimes, couples don’t take out enough time to learn about one another. It can be hard to discuss a matter with someone that is not on the “same page as you are.”

Try to list relationship goals on a sheet of paper.  In this way, you can learn more about what questions you want to go over.  It’s okay to bring this paper with you.

It allows the person that you have a connection with to see how serious you think you are getting with them.  Believe it or not, many people in your life won’t see the “light” in what you are talking about or wanting to discuss.

It’s important for you to look at your lie and try to understand what the other person is wanting from you as well. Be prepared to receive responses that you may not be comfortable with.

If the other person doesn’t see the same goals as you do, don’t cut them off in fear that they will never be on the same page as you are.  Take things one step at a time and realize that love does happen one step at a time.  Everything around you grows at the right moment.

What If My Relationship is Boring?

Welcome to the club.  When you begin dating someone for a long period of time, it can get boring. However, that is the beauty of it.  You get bored, but still help one another out daily.

It’s because life is not going to always be exciting. In fact, relationships get boring because life is repetitive for most people that live on earth.  Even billionaires get bored. When this happens, it’s a good idea to put your time into working more hours a day.  In this way, you can have the time pass by.

Know that a boring relationship means that you are comfortable with one another. That is not a bad thing. In fact, when couples begin to get bored with one another, it means that they have room to “spice things up”.  Take a couple’s trip or vacation together.

Making couple goals is important because you get to focus on important aspects of where you see the two of you headed in the future. Let him see that you are ready to take the relationship to a much higher level.

Also, try to examine what your relationship is missing.  If its not missing anything and has just become boring, know that this is normal.  The “grass is not greener on the other side.”  Eventually, all relationships get boring as you stay with the same person for many years.

Do You Want an Open Relationship?

Many couples today find that having an open relationship makes their relationship less boring. This can be exciting for some couples and for others, it can mean a breakup. You always face the risk of your significant other falling in love with someone else that may not be into the whole open relationship type of deal.

You may find that you and your lover find open relationship dating great.  You may find that when you are seeing multiple people at one time, that you never have a dull moment.  However, jealousy always seems to set in because its part of our human makeup.

You may find that the person that you are romantically involved with wants to spend time with the other person that they are with.  This may become lonely for you if you are not seeing someone else in the relationship.

Open relationships often fail because its hard to see your lover with someone else besides you.  Most open relationships don’t work because one person in the relationship often feels neglected or they won’t have enough time to spend with the person that they are wanting to be involved with.

My relationship advice is to talk this over with your lover and see if they are open to the idea.  Some open relationship couples do make this work.  It often works well for people that are bi-sexual because they often have a desire for both sexes and often function best when they have a male and female partner in their life at the same time.

Do you Need Relationship Counseling?

Relationship counseling is important for couples that can’t make their relationship function well but have a desire to still stay together.  This is good if you have had an up and down relationship for a long time and want to see why the two of you simply can’t get along.

If you find that you are fighting a lot with your life partner, know that relationship counseling can help you to find love again in your relationship.  The relationship counselor will often sit the two of you down and ask you to speak to one another about all kinds of topics.

You may find that speaking out your feelings in front of a counselor allows the two of you to see that you can take matters to another level at the right time.  You can easily learn how to function best when your mind is involved with what you feel is right for yourself.

Here Are Some Stage of a Relationship:

  • You both meet in person.
  • You find physical attraction with one another and want to explore kissing and romance.
  • The two of you talk for long periods on the phone or through texting.
  • One of you is often more into talking than the other person is.
  • One of you will desire more time spent with the other person.
  • One of you will want to take the next step in the relationship and the other person may not.
  • You both decide on if you should stay together or break apart.

What is a Karmic Relationship?

If you have good karma, you may find that you are being led to your soulmate. You may not know it now, but the person that you are with is opening their heart up to you. They want to start bonding together and you may feel like you have met this person before in a past life.

When you feel connected to someone that is loving and kind, you begin to feel like you can explore where the relationship will go into the future.  It’s important to learn about soulmates and how you can get lead to yours.

If you wish to get a karmic relationship going for you at some point, it’s important for you to meditate on the person that you would like to be with.

Some people use vision boards to create their perfect soulmate.  It will be up to you to decide on what you feel is perfect and good for you.  It’s always a good idea to see yourself with someone that you consider to be your life partner.

Taking a Break in a Relationship

Sometimes, taking a break in the relationship is important.  If one of you is feeling left out or like the relationship is not working for you, it can be time to take a breather.

Many couples find that taking a break in the relationship can be good for the long term.  If the two of you feel like you can function better when apart, this can make the two of you see that you do love one another a lot more deeply than you though.

Relationship breaks will allow you to see if you are both right for one another and if someone else is out there that is a better fit.  A show called Temptation Island shows couples that are wanting to take a break from their current relationship in order to see if they are right for one another or if they are better off dating someone else.

They are given multiple chances to bond with someone else on an island to see if they are a better match with someone else or if they see that they are meant to be with the lover that they came on the show with.

Couples that take relationship breaks will often say that it has helped them to avoid frustration and anger that they were feeling before taking a break.  After the break, they feel a new sense of appreciation for one another.

As you can see, its important to define your relationship as soon as you can. In this way, you can avoid any misunderstanding as to who the two of you are as a couple.

Should There Be Relationship Rules?

Setting up relationship rules is important. You may be a woman in the relationship and feel that your man shouldn’t be texting other women.  You may set up a rule that if he is caught texting other women, then you will be taking a break from the relationship.

You may be a man in the relationship and feeling like you only want your girlfriend to text you once a day.  If she texts more than that, it will be to much for you to handle.

Setting up relationship rules needs to happen around the first month that the two of you are together. Most couples break up because no rules were set up.  Unfortunately, one of the people in the relationship feels like they were being played with or disrespected in some sort of way.

Relationship problems will always exist if you are together. There is not perfect relationship.  If you have a fight today and make up, you will have a fight again and make up. It’s that simple. If you are not having relationship problems, then you are probably not communicating enough.

Sometimes, a couple can be together for 5 years and not know one another enough.  If you have never lived together and decide to get married, you may find out in the first two weeks that you are not compatible living under the same roof.

Perhaps the two of you were able to put on your best attitude while dating, but now that you are living under the same roof, your “true colors” are starting to come out.  Your significant other may not fully want to see that side of you.

There can be lots of manipulation in relationships. Therefore, its best to always find out who the two of you are by either vacationing together or being alone with one another for long periods of time.  This is how you get to know someone well.
