Is Blocking Someone From Your Social Media Account The Best Choice?

Why Do People Block Someone From Their Social Media Account?

At first, the two of you added one another to your social media accounts. They may have been a Facebook friend. However, over time, you thought that it would be best to block them. Why is blocking someone from your social media account better than just telling them that you no longer want to talk to them?

Often, people find out that they are blocked from someone’s social media account when they try to contact them.   Perhaps you have lost the ability to look at their pictures on Instagram. Someone may ask themselves, “Why have I been blocked on your social media?”  It can be devastating if you never even saw this coming. This could be worse than ghosting.

People are often unaware of how annoying they can be.  They often want to believe that they are a good friend or lover.  Perhaps you met someone new online and started to chat with one another.  At first, everything was going great. However, over time, you realized that you were simply not “clicking” together.

This happens more often than we would like to think.  It may seem that the best thing to do is to block them from ever contacting you again.  However, is it fair? Is it the right thing to do?  Should you have at least told them that you no longer wanted to speak to them?

Should You Let Someone Know That They Are Going To Be Blocked From Your Social Media Accounts First?

You will find that direct truth hurts people a lot less.  If you block someone without them knowing it beforehand, they have a lot of questions. They may wonder why it happened to begin with. They may ask if you did it because you do not like them. Perhaps you felt like they were a bit over the top.

However, you may have simply felt that you have nothing in common with them. If you are considering blocking someone on social media, it takes a lot of confidence to let them know beforehand. It is hard to be confrontational. However, it is often necessary to do.  If not, you will hurt the person far more.

Sometimes, you may have an argument with your boyfriend/girlfriend and decide to block them out of anger.  You may feel that they are not fulfilling your needs now.  Perhaps they are disrespecting you or not texting you when they say that they will.  There can be a laundry list of reasons.  However, anger blocking may not be the right thing to do either.  After all, most anger social media blocking gets unblocked anyways when the two of you make up.

Does Social Media Express Who You Are?

Websites like, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest all share one thing in common.  They let you have a voice. These websites allow you to explain your point of view.  You can post something about yourself that is worthwhile.

You may feel that the people in your contact list can learn more about you through what you post. When you block someone from your social media accounts, you basically take away their ability to show you who they are and where they are headed.

Social media is a way for you to take power and to show that you are going to be who you are as a person.  You need to visually explain what the future is going to be when all else is changing in your life.

Will Blocking Someone On Social Media Cause an Argument?

Yes, blocking someone on social media often makes them feel shunned by you.  It is hard to tell someone to “hit the road” by blocking them and they do not get upset.  The person that you blocked may retaliate and block you back.  They may even text or call you (if they have your contact information), to let you know that you wronged them, and they are angry.

The person that you blocked may never speak to you again. Sure, right now it seems like a good idea to block this person from your social media account.  However, how long is it going to last?  Will you regret blocking them 5 years from now.

We often regret some of the things that we have done down the road.  We often wish that we would not have done something at a later point in our lives.  Learning more about who you are as a person does matter. You need to always look at yourself and realize that you can carry on and do what you feel is best in your heart. Learning how to love will greatly affect the way that you carry on in your life and learn from past mistakes.

When Is The Right Time To Block Someone From Your Social Media?

When you feel that you have exhausted every possible way to resolve conflict with someone, it may be time to block someone.  Just because someone does 1 thing to upset you is not the best reason to block someone from your social media account. In fact, you should always try to resolve your differences with someone that may not be making you happy.

It is important to look at your social media accounts and realize that you may not be with the person that you thought that you would always be together with.  You may find that when you are with someone, you give them your love and your happiness.  You often go after specific goals to make yourself feel happy. You often want to learn how to become someone that will give you a good sense of trust and loyalty.

If the person that you are trying to block not give you a good sense of happiness, you should let them go.  However, communicate to them how you feel and just let them know that you would prefer not to talk to them anymore.  Do not expect them to be okay with this.  They may curse you out or say something unpleasant. It is best to make everything work out to your favor.  Let yourself feel free from someone that is only getting on your nerves. There is nothing worse than having to deal with someone that you simply cannot stand.

Sometimes, people do not know how annoying they can be. It can be hard to express your emotions to them. However, it is important to always be truthful with yourself.

A List of Reasons Of Why You Should Block Someone From Your Social Media:

  • They are the most annoying person that you have ever met.

Whenever you block someone on social media, you often feel a sense of relief. You have communicated more to them than what you would have done when you first added them. It is important to understand that not everyone on your social media contact list will understand why you blocked that person. However, it really does not matter what they think. At the end of the day, it is your life and you must be happy with your decisions. You need to feel that you can post what you want on your social media without ever having a problem.

Social media is often a place in which we can feel a sense of happiness, love, and power. We must feel that we have a voice and that nobody else around us can tell us what to do. At the end of the day, we “click” best with those that we find common interests with. Some friends stay with us for life and others simply go there on separate way.

Learning more about your personality makes a lot of sense. You will always be able to benefit from people that are meant to be together with you in life. You can always look at your life and feel like you can take on new challenges and make a difference for your own self. In life, we always have the need to continue to focus on something that makes us laugh.  Your social media will always be a steppingstone for you in terms of life choices and decisions. You can see for yourself that your social media will be a part of your life for a long time to come.
