Many religions try to teach that Jesus is not God. However, Christians believe that Jesus is their savior and the son of God. They believe that he is literally the son of God and not just a son of God.
The Following Old Testament Scripture Verses Prove That The Old Testament Is Speaking Of Jesus Christ:
• 2 Samuel 7:14
• Psalm 2:7
• Psalm 2:11-12
• Proverbs 30:4
• Isaiah 7:14
• Isaiah 9:6-7
• Daniel 3:25
• Hosea 11:1
• Micah 5:1-3
Let us first take a look at Isaiah 7:14“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.”
This prophecy was given by the Prophet Isiah In the Old Testament. It is estimated that this prophetic word was given some seven hundred years before the birth of Jesus Christ. If we turn to Matthew 1:18–25, the Bible verses speak of Mary being a virgin and giving birth to Jesus Christ. It is amazing that the exact scenario happened as the Prophet Isiah predicted it. In Matthew 1:23, we read in this scripture verse that Jesus will be called Immanuel. The word Immanuel means that God is with us.
It is clear from the Bible verses above that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin as predicted by Isiah and was called Immanuel. This is one fulfillment of prophecy. It is interesting that the prophet foretold the exact scenario of Jesus being born. The New Testament confirms that Jesus was born of a virgin. An angel even visits Mary and tells her that she will be the mother of a savior in Luke 1:26-38. The angel informs her that she will be pregnant by the Holy Spirit and that she is blessed because of this.
Let us read Isaiah 9:6-7 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. 7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.“
If we now turn to Revelation 19:16, it says that Jesus will have “On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”
If we compare the Old and New Testament scriptures, we can clearly see that Jesus is the one that Isiah is speaking about and the book of Revelation in the New Testament confirms that Jesus is the king of kings.
In order to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, one must read scripture and allow God to reveal himself. Studying Old and New Testament scriptures will allow someone to see that Jesus was first talked about in the Old Testament and then came forward in the New Testament.
The fact that Jesus had thousands of followers that witnessed his miracles and died for him confirms that they believed in who he said he was. His apostles also believe in Jesus as well. They died as Martyrs for him because they believed that preaching about him was right. Nobody would die for something that they do not believe in. Jesus raised the dead, healed the sick and casted out demons. He also gave power to his apostles to do the same.
What proves that Jesus is truly God is that he rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. Jesus even said that I and the father are one. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all one being. The three cannot be divided. Jesus also promised that whoever follows him will also go to heaven to be with him when they die.
Spreading the good news about Jesus is a commandment that he gave his apostles. He said to go out and tell others about him. He commanded Peter to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Tell everyone that they meet about salvation in Jesus.
Those that walked with Jesus knew him best. Even Judas Iscariot himself knew that Jesus was God after he betrayed him for 30 pieces of silver. Before that, Satan deceived his heart. He walked with Jesus for three years and still would not accept him as being the messiah.
Even after him raising the dead and calming the sea, Judas still would not believe. He had a hard heart against Jesus. However, when Jesus was taken by the soldiers to be judged by Roman law, Judas realized what he had done and hung himself. He could not deal with the guilt of betraying someone that loved him and whom he knew was the savior.
The story of Jesus is nearly 2,000 years old. Since that time, the followers of Jesus Christ has been in the billions. Jesus is a major worldwide religion. Once a person asks Jesus into their life, they become a new creation. Jesus has the power to forgive sin.
Old Testament Scripture Zechariah 9:9 even tells us that the messiah would come riding on a donkey. In the New Testament and in Mark 11:1-11, the verses confirm this because it says that Jesus came riding into town on a donkey.
Even when Jesus was born, he was visited by three wise men. It is said that they saw a star that lead them to Jesus. They brought him gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold.
