Who Was Peter in the Bible?\n\n\n\nThe apostle Peter was a fisherman that we read about in the New Testament Gospels. Jesus Christ chose him to be one of his apostles. He had a brother that Jesus Christ also called to be an apostle named Andrew. \n\n\n\nJesus said\nto Peter, \u201cOn this rock, I will build my church\u201d (Matthew 16:18). Peter was a tough man that would be able to\ntake the gospel to people that were lost. \n\n\n\n\nPeter did deny Jesus three times as he faced crucifixion. People kept on asking him if he knew Jesus and he said no. He was scared that if he said yes, that the people would kill him. Jesus prophesied that Peter would deny him three times before it happened. \n\n\n\nPeter was given a special anointing by Jesus to heal the sick and raise the dead. He didn\u2019t want to believe that Jesus was going to be crucified. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter took his sword and cut off the ear of one of the soldiers. Jesus quickly restored the man\u2019s ear and told Peter that this was not the way to handle the matter. He told Peter to put his sword down. \n\n\n\nEven though\nPeter messed up a lot, he always took a stand for Jesus. Each time that he fell, Jesus would pick him\nback up again and correct him to do what was right. \n\n\n\nPeter had to\nwithstand a tough Roman government after Jesus died and went to heaven. It wasn\u2019t easy because he was often beaten,\nthreatened that he would be killed if he preached about Jesus and was talked\nharshly to. However, Peter was the rock\nthat couldn\u2019t be changed. \n\n\n\nHe firmly\nkept on preaching the gospel message. Without Peters bravery, the gospel may\nnot have made it as far as it did. \nToday, Christianity has reached the entire earth. Almost everyone on earth has heard of the\nname Jesus Christ. \n\n\n\nPeter\nrealized that the gospel could be preached to the gentiles and that they\nreceived it well. He also said that they did not have to give themselves to\nJewish law. Peter said that God does not\nhave favorites. \n\n\n\nWhat Was The Crucifixion of St Peter?\n\n\n\nPeter was crucified\nupside down because he didn\u2019t think that he was worthy enough to be crucified\nin the same way that Jesus Christ was. \nPeter is a martyr of the church. \n\n\n\nPeter the\napostle proved that even though he denied Jesus three times, the Lord loved him\nenough to rebuild him again. The feast of Saint Peter is celebrated each\nyear on June 29th. It is a\ntime to reflect on the life of Peter and what he did for the early church.
